How To Jailbreak ChevronWP7 to WP7-based devices

Microsoft finally has approved the device named ChevronWP7. This tool is used to perform some sort of 'jailbreak' the devices based on Windows Phone 7.

In this case, 'jailbreak' referred to is the ability to run unofficial software. Through ChevronWP7, WP7 operating system users simply pay nine dollars a year to get that capability.

Previously, one way to be able to run unofficial apps on WP7 is to join in the App Hub as an application developer. This however requires a subscription fee is much larger, ie 99 U.S. dollars.

According to its maker, ChevronWP7 was originally designed for amateur developers to try their homemade applications running on top of Windows Phone 7. So far there are already some applications available, including web servers, screen capture and monitor the battery.

ChevronWP7 first appeared in 2010. Shortly after its emergence, the developer of this tool is contacted Microsoft to make improvements on that device.

Previous ChevronWP7 exploit a loophole in WP7 software to do the job. The gap, according to Microsoft, was closed in January 2011.

Some WP7-based devices have appeared on the market. The latest is the Nokia Lumia 800 and 700 that was announced in October 2011 and will be available shortly. Both phones are Nokia's first mobile phone using WP7.

DRAM Elpida Wants Bankruptcy Protection

DRAM Elpida Wants Bankruptcy Protection Elpida has an uncertain future. Company's shares fell 98 percent (250-5 yen) after the signing of the memory is bankrupt. According to the Stock Exchange Tokyo Stock Exchange, Elipda will be abolished on March 28.


On Monday, Elpida seek bankruptcy protection because they can not pay a debt of 448 million yen ($ 5.6 million). It is unclear whether the Japanese government intervened to help save the company, as it has done with other technology companies with problems. For now, private rescue seems unlikely because Elpida has been exploring the possibility of acquisition or partner for a while without success.

Currently there is no incentive for anyone to save Elipda. Unlike NAND, DRAM business is really slow. We have seen prices fall by 40 percent last year, which means that the profit margin is very narrow. Combine with falling prices and lower demand are looking for in a bad situation.

Unfortunately the company is likely to go bankrupt, because it has a reputation for producing quality parts in the past. Even one case six months ago, where some vendors are selling counterfeit DRAM Elipda relabeled using parts from Samsung. Elpida may not be the founder of the company's latest DRAM, but this is just another case in mature markets, it will gradually reduce the number of competitors.

Ten Ways How USB Hard Best Security Practices

 

Sponsored by Kingston Technology, the Ponemon Institute recently released the results of "The State of USB Drive Security." The focus of the research was to better understand how complex business and government organizations manage the security and privacy requirements of data collected and retained on USB drives.

According to the Ponemon Institute, the lesson to be learned from the research is that organizations do understand they are at risk because of employees’ negligence, but are not taking the necessary steps to secure USB drives. The main reasons cited for not being proactive include: uncertainty about monitoring and tracking USB use in the workplace, desire not to diminish productivity and the reliance on employee integrity and trustworthiness.

The study also revealed that while these devices may be small, the data breaches that can result from lost or stolen USBs are huge. More than 70 percent of respondents in this study said that they are absolutely certain (47 percent) or believe that it was most likely (23 percent) that a data breach had been caused by sensitive or confidential information contained on a missing USB drive. On average, organizations in the study lost more than 12,000 records about customers, consumers and employees as a result of missing USBs.

Groupon reportedly experimenting with Square competitor

Square, PayPal, Intuit, Verifone -- the mobile payments field (and we're not talking wallets here) is seriously crowded already. So, the question is then, why on Earth would Groupon want to join the fray? We're not entirely sure, but VentureBeat is reporting the coupon service is preparing to do just that. According to a source within the company, Groupon is testing card-reading dongle and payment platform with surprisingly aggressive pricing. According to the insider, transaction fees will be 1.8 percent, on top of a $0.15 base charge. By comparison, square charges a flat 2.75 percent. Interestingly, the source also claims that Groupon is handing out, not just free readers, but free iPod touches to plug them into. The move makes obvious sense since the company snatched up Kima Labs, makers of TapBuy, in February. Besides, it could easily integrate its discount offers with the platform as a value added service. None of this is confirmed just yet but, we certainly wont be surprised if this rumor pans out.

Google snags the webOS Enyo team HP says open source plans are still on schedule

 

At one time the Enyo app framework was supposed to help webOS run faster and on a wider variety of devices, but as HP continues to struggle, reports have surfaced from The Verge and AllThingsD that much of the team behind it, including leader Matthew McNulty, has been hired away by Google. Numbering a half dozen or so, the immediate danger is the effect this might have on HP's efforts to open source webOS, but in a statement the company indicated it remains on track and will stick to the roadmap it announced in January. Less clear is what these employees might end up working on for Google, although Enyo's focus on web apps and HTML5 suggests the possibility they'll end up working on ChromeOS projects.

Specifications and Prices Intel Ivy Bridge Processor

Once rumored to delay delivery of Intel Ivy Bridge processors, Intel finally ready to launch third-generation Core processors by the end of April 2012.Intel is rumored to be announced Ivy Bridge between 22 to 28 April. Announcement includes Quad-core Models, Namely the Core i7 for mobile devices, families Core i7 Extreme, Core i7 processor for desktop computers, and family Core i5 type i5-3570K, i5-3570T, i5-3550, i5-3550S, i5-3450 and i5-3450S.

These processors will start on the market on 29 April. Here's a list of specifications and pricing models Ivy Bridge Core i5 and Core i7 for desktops to mobile devices and desktop, which was launched in late April.

After that, in early June 2012, then Intel will introduce Ivy Bridge processors for mobile devices that Core i5 dual core. At the moment, Intel will launch Core i5 processors for the desktop that is Core i5-3570, i5-3570S, i5-3475S, 3470-i5, i5-i5-3470S and 3470T.
